How to Measure:

Width:
Tape
Measure your aperture width in 3 separate places and then deduct 10mm (20mm on Low Threshold Doors) off your smallest size. This will be your order size.

Height:

The height is determined by which threshold option you decide to choose. All seven pane doors can only be bottom running or low threshold . You will need to consider where the threshold will finish in relation to your finish floor level, which includes your final floor covering e.g. laminated floor, carpet tiles etc.

Unlike some of our competitors our doors are not a kit. They are fully fabricated and assembled then individually tested. After final inspection the sashes are removed from the frame for ease of transport.

Size Range:

Minimum Width = 4800mm. Maximum Width = 6300mm.
Minimum Height = 1200mm. Maximum Height = 2450mm.
To arrive at the correct price you must select the correct size range e.g door width = 5785mm , the size range = 5701mm to 5850mm.

Size related and other FAQs:

Q: What is the width of the doors when stacked?
A: The width is 420mm on scheme 761/716, not including the frame.
Q: What is the door sash size?
A: This varies between open in or out and scheme choice.To arrive at a size + or - 15mm, deduct 110mm off the width and divide by 7 e.g Width = (5785-110)/7 = 810mm.
Q: Can I couple a window to the top of the door?
A: No. A steel lintel must be installed above the door, then addtional glazing can be fitted above the lintel.
Q: Can I install a door in a conservatory?
A: Yes, subject to door size, load and roof specification. A door width up to 2750mm, that is bottom running, fixed to a dwarf wall, with adjacent window frames and a polycarbonate roof should be OK. However if your door width is large i.e 5000mm, the door must be fitted within a strutural goalpost, that is capable of supporting your roof and the load of our doors. Please seek our advice. We highly reccommend that you consider our window frames and roof system, as they are designed for this purpose.

	RAL colours allow you the choice of limitless additional colours. To get an exact representation of the colour please order a colour swatch, or go to your nearsest paint supplier.

Which to choose, Open In or Out?

Quite simply, whichever suits your project best. Most people base their choice on the requirement for space, either in the room or outside. Doors are designed to be either wholly Open In or Out and there is no key benefit from choosing one over the other. It remains a matter of choice only. However there are some minor differences:

Open In.

Tracks to the inside.
Doors require room space when open.
Due to the way doors stack on open in doors there are more handle options available.
Threshold can be buried to a minimum of 53mm, with an externall cill.
Low Threshold Option available.

Open Out.

Tracks to the outside.
No internal room space required.
Threshold can be buried to a miminum of 15mm.
Low threshold is NOT available unless used as an internal room divider.
Open Out doors are 75% of all doors supplied.

A stub cill may be required if you have a small reveal or are sitting your door forward in the reveal and want to minimize the projection of the cill.You may choose an 180mm cill if the door is sitting back in the reveal and you need to bridge the brickwork at the base of the door.

Internal Handle

Internal handle only is the popular choice for doors not designed as a main access. On a 3 pane door there is a handle on the 1st and 3rd door. The main traffic door has six locking points, two to the top,bottom and side. The 3rd door has two locking points to the top and bottom. Due to the way the doors stack the handle design is different on open in or out doors.

Open In.

All handles are key locking and the same design.
Choice of six colours.
If you also are buying other windows and doors from Slide and Fold the handles are an exact match.

Open Out.

To conform

with insurance requirements, the traffic door is fitted with the same key locking handle used on Open In doors, with the same choice of colours.
In order that the doors stack correctly, the other handle has to be a sleek low level unobtrusive design.This will always be white on white doors and satin silver,black or artisan colour on all other coloured doors.

Handle Both Sides


	Handles both sides is the only option that allows outside access. It is fitted to the main traffic door only. The other handles are as the internal handle only option.The handle operates a *secured by design XL3 claw* lock, recommended by the police and automatically conforming to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) standard.

24mm throw tensile steel security hooks. Opposing High Security steel hooks ‘barb, behind keeps by 8mm to help prevent the forcing apart of sash and frame. Nickel plated sprung latch with 6mm thick tri-laminate steel ‘anti-lift’ centre hook with 20mm throw.

Open Out Colours


	As Open Out doors have a different handle configuration compared to an Open In door, please select your handle colour from the drop down list to the left, based on the following criteria:

	White or Coloured on White Doors: The main traffic door, for internal handle only or handle both sides, will be the same colour as shown in the Open In selection. The non traffic door(s) will be a white sleek low level unobtrusive handle that blends in with the door sash. Oak, Mahogany or Rosewood Both Sides Doors: You should select Satin Silver or Black only. The other colour options are not available. Black and Grey Both Sides Doors: For Black doors you may choose either Black or Silver. For Grey doors please only select Satin Silver. RAL colours: The RAL colour range will have coloured matched handles, .i.e. if you choose May Green the handle will be the exact RAL colour match. You may still choose Satin Silver or Black.

All our doors are made to such a high specification, they automatically conform to the current building (PART L) regulations. The only other consideration is if trickle ventilation is required.
All habitable rooms require 5000mm sq of equivalent air
If you have no other means of venting your room ( i.e a brick vent, mechanical ventilation or another door or window with a trickle vent fitted) then a trickle vent will need to be fitted to your bi-fold door.
If a trickle vent is required it will be fitted to the top of the first and last door sash.

If your bi-fold door is a replacement:

If you are replacing an existing door and not changing the structural width of your opening then building regulations do not apply.
If the door you are replacing has trickle ventilation already fitted, then it is a requirement that a trickle vent is fitted to the bi-fold door.
You may choose to have a vent fitted regardless of if being a requirement, to aid background ventilation.

Glass Specification:
The glass in our doors is 28mm toughened, argon filled , conforming to building regulations. This is as standard a high specification. However you can configure the choice of Low ‘E’ coating (2), Spacer Bar (3) and internal glass type (4). The lower the ‘U’ Value the higher the specification combined with lower energy costs and comfort.

Self Cleaning




		Self-cleaning glass uses a microscopic coating with a unique dual-action. The first stage is "photocatalytic" - the coating reacts with daylight to break down organic dirt. The second stage is "hydrophilic" - instead of forming droplets, rainwater hits the glass and spreads evenly, running off in a "sheet" and taking the loosened dirt with it, also drying quickly without leaving streaks.

Self Cleaning with Solar Control


	In hot climates, solar control glass can be used to minimise solar heat gain and help control glare.In temperate regions, it can be used to balance solar control with high levels of natural light. Solar control glass is ideal for large folding doors where solar heat gain could be an issue. This attractive blue glass, shown above, combines dual-action, self-cleaning properties with solar control performance for a cooler internal environment. Specially designed for the optimum unit ideal for folding doors. It uses daylight and rainwater to breakdown and wash away organic dirt from exterior surfaces. Its unique blue colour also helps keep internal temperatures cool whilst still maintaining excellent light transmittance.

Manually Operated Integral Blinds:

Our blinds are the industry leading ScreenLine design, direct from Pellini in Italy. Available in six colours, they are simple, quick and easy to use. Controlled by a manual cord. As the blinds are made in Italy, there is a 4-6 week lead time, however the doors are delivered without glass, within our standard delivery time, to allow you to continue with your project. As soon the glass is available it will be delivered at no extra cost.

Motorised

Motorised Control Systems
	Motorised Integral Blinds:

		Fully motorised blind systems made simple. Utilising the Screenline blind system, all motorised systems are individually built, pre- wired and factory tested. Available as a: Switch Only System. One switch per folding door set. Full remote control system. One remote control operates up to 99 folding door sets. All doors are supplied with a 3 metre length of control wire, which exits the door frame and connects to a pre-built system unit. This unit will include as standard 1 x transformer, 1 x control unit and a connection to a manual switch and if a remote control is ordered a radio receiver. (All Shown Above). Exiting the system unit is a 3m length of flex with a plug attached, designed so that you can get up and running without any fuss. Ideally once your installation is complete, the system unit will be hidden from view and the flex replaced with a direct connection to a fused spur, installed by a qualified electrician. 	We highly reccomend using our own fixing kits, when installing our Slide and Fold doors. It includes the exact same fixings,drill bits, and sealants that are used on our installations. They have been selected for quality, performance and match exactly the requirement on our installation instructions. INCLUDES: 2 x Jobber Size x 6.5mm HSS Drill Bits. 2 x 148mm x 6.5mm HSS Drill Bits. 1 x 6.5mm x 150mm Masonary Drill Bit. 20 x 7.5mm x150mm Screws 20 x 100mm High Specification Screws. 30 x 120mm High Specification Screws. 1 x Torx Driver Bit. 2 x Tube of Dow Corning Silicone. 1 x 700ml Construction Foam YOU MUST BE 18 TO BUY AND CONFORM TO HEALTH AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.


Installation Service.

Although our doors are extremely easy to fit we also offer a full installation service, for full peace of mind. The additional cost on a 7 Pane door is £700, paid on completion. The product cost is paid with order. A full survey is included. The warranty is one year on labour, plus a standard 5 year parts warranty. Due to the demand for this service, delivery and installation is 4-6 weeks from date of order. A Fensa certificate is issued on completion. What we need from you. Before ordering a door with an installation service, you must first be advised that we will undertake your order, by a slideandfold.co.uk representative. You will be given a reference number to validate your order. You will need to e-mail sales@slideandfold.co.uk digital pictures of the front and side access of your property. Plus images of the outside and inside view of where your door is to be installed. We do not install where no lintel is fitted. Please note if you advise a lintel is fitted and on survey this is shown not to be the case, you will be required to have a lintel installed by another contractor or you may cancel the order. You will be liable to a £100 charge to cover costs incurred. We do not install above the ground floor. We do not knock out brickwork.
